Day 304 – Made several fringe scarves in just a couple hours. I copied this idea from a scarf gifted to me last Christmas. Here’s how to make one: Cut 4 to 6 inch wide strips from two colors of fleece. Sew them together down the middle using a narrow zigzag stitch. Then fold the scarf in half lengthwise and cut the fringe to within ½ inch of the stitching. Super easy.

Day 303 – A sweater I created way back on Day 79 was stored away, almost forgotten, because it was just was too strange. Made from two felted sweaters cut apart and put together upside down in some parts – it was weird, even for me. Then I figured out a fix. I simply recut and tapered the sleeves so they are more fitted along the forearm and then flare at the hand. Perfect. Now it’s a favorite.

Day 302 – Adding a face to the nesting bears…

Day 302 – Taking quality photos of projects is a challenge. The iPhone is a mediocre camera in artificial light late at night. So I replaced last night’s photo with this composite of photos taken outside on this overcast day. Imperfect, but much better. I’m still working on the bears – the faces at least. I’m playing with a few accessories like bows, glasses, and binky. I’d like the accessories to be changeable rather than fixed, but that may add too much complexity to the toy. It may be best to stick with the basic concept of nesting, closures, and numbers 1-5.

Day 301 – After trying out many more combinations, I’ve finally settled on this face for the nested bear puppets. Part hand-sewn felt and part embroidery, it is going to take me awhile to finish all 5.

Day 300 – Playing with paper. Just a blind doodle that I cut and folded. Another version could be colored, but I like the starkness of this one.

Day 298 – Totally redesigning the “Changeling” series. Simpler shape, with more emphasis on the removeable face and writable surface beneath.

Day 297- Felted an XL crew neck wool sweater, cut it up and pieced it back together as a wrap. These alteration projects begin as a basic concept and evolve as I work with the fabric. Mistakes are incorporated and embraced…mostly.

Day 296 – Constructed a wrap shirt from two XL t-shirts. One of my favorite parts of the process is stitching t-shirt scraps over the existing graphics.
